  • Neutral tones: Olive, khaki, stone, ivory. The idea is to blend in with the environment.

• Layers: Mornings and evenings are cool, but the days can be warm. Bring sweaters and a light jacket. A packable raincoat just in case.

• Lightweight long sleeves & trousers: Better for sun and dust. Linen and technical fabrics both work well — and you can always change into shorts if it gets warm.

• Safari footwear: Closed-toe walking shoes, light hiking boots, or sports shoes all work. One pair of nicer shoes for the evening.

  • Hat: A wide-brim hat is ideal — otherwise a baseball cap works too.

• Sunglasses: Polarised sunglasses cut glare on the savannah.

• Scarf or buff: For the chance of some dust along the way.

• Daypack: Your everyday bag for the jeep — change of clothes, camera, sunscreen, snacks.

• Binoculars: Optional — but if you bring a pair, 8x42 is the sweet spot.

• Camera: Optional — a long lens (200mm+) is great for wildlife, but phone cameras handle the landscapes beautifully.

• Memory cards & batteries: Bring more than you think. Charging in rooms is reliable but not always fast.

• Universal adapter: Tanzania uses Type G (British 3-pin), 230V.

• Power bank: For long days out on game drives when you can't get back to charge.

• Sunscreen: Reef-safe if possible.

• Insect repellent: For evenings. Lodges provide some, but pack your own.

• Personal medications: Your usual trip essentials — plasters, painkillers, electrolytes. Bring copies of any prescriptions.

• Lip balm & moisturiser: The air is dry. Your skin will thank you.

• Soft-sided duffel bag: Strongly recommended. Internal bush flights have weight limits and don't handle hard cases well.

• Cabin bag: Keep valuables, electronics, and medications with you.
